Dove - Year 5 & Year 6

This half term, there are lots of exciting things happening in Year 5/6 classes. Our main topic is Crime and Punishment and we are looking at how punishments have changed throughout the ages. We will be deciding if the punishment fits the crime and discussing whether different punishments are fair. The Knowledge Organisers that have been sent home have the home learning tasks on. They are due on 8/3, 22/3 and 5/4. We will also be looking at forces in Science and designing some parachutes for an 'Egg Drop' before Easter.

Our Year 6 children are preparing for their SATs, which begin on 13th May.

The pupils are taking part in cooking with the emphasis on healthy eating. Last week Miss Brooks class made fruit salad. This week we will be making flapjacks.

The Year 5/6 classes have been working on their topic of Earth & Space. So far they have written a description of a new planet and a biography of the British astronaut, Tim Peake.

The homework for this project has been displayed around school. I'm sure you'll agree that some of them are 'out of this world!' We welcomed parents to  our tour of the Solar System in October.
