COVID 19 Information
29.01.2021 -Please see the following updates regarding the current situation in school.
February ½ term:
The Department for Education confirmed this week that schools would be closed, as per our agreed holiday pattern, in February. Therefore, school will close on Friday 12th February and reopen on Monday 22nd February. There will be no online work set this week, however we will still require that school is informed about positive Covid tests – there will be more information on this nearer the time.
Rapid testing of staff:
From Sunday, all school staff have the opportunity to take rapid Covid tests twice weekly. This is to identify any asymptomatic cases that may otherwise go unnoticed. Parents need to be aware that this will almost certainly cause disruption to bubbles or to online learning and we have plans in place to keep this to a minimum. The intention of this testing is to break chains of infection and help us to return to normal as soon as possible; I know that parents will be supportive and understanding and I thank staff for being so prepared to undergo this testing for the good of our school community
Land’s End to John O’Groat’s fundraising walk: Well done to all who have contributed so far and have joined up in the last week. Over 460,000 steps have been added this week and we are 33% of the way there! Can we get to John O’Groat’s by half-term?!
Keep up the steps and try and sign up if you can. The link is below: https://worldwalking.org/groups/wxvul
Resource for parents
https://www.theschoolrun.com/ has resources that parents can use to support learning at home. It is free to sign up for some of the resources, others require a paid subscription.
Government announcement regarding the re-opening of schools
You may have seen or read that Boris Johnson announced that the earliest that schools would start to return would be 8th March. It is important to stress that this is still very uncertain and that I wouldn’t expect to be opening our doors to all children from that date. We will keep parents informed as soon as we get further information.
Parents should keep at least 1 metre distance on the playground when dropping off and collecting children and not crowd around doorways.
The doors are open from 8:30am to 9:00am for children in KS2 and 8:45am to 9:00am for children in KS1, reception and the nursery. If there are people around the doorways, please wait and keep socially distanced until they leave.
These measures are put in place in the interest of all of our school community and especially those who are most vulnerable.
